I am please to be apart of this event that will happen this Saturday November 30th at 9am until 4pm! See below:
Last Saturday I was in my first ever craft fair. I have to say I had a lot of fun even though I am pretty sure it was sub zero temperatures in the Lynnwood Elementary School Gym (mental note for next year bring a heater!). Overall I have to say that it was a success. I shared the booth with my very good friend Amy, who also makes greeting cards, it was her first craft fair as well.
This is how we set up our booth. Amy had cute contraption made out of a 2×4, bamboo sticks and some string to hang cards from. After some discussion she is going to see if her husband can retro-fit it to have another tier so more cards can be hung from it. We had decent traffic and lots of complements on how beautiful our cards are, which is always great to hear! In the end I sold all three box cards a box set and some paper beads. I consider this a success since I made my money back and then some for the booth. Amy did nicely as well. I will rethink the large print price tag and display options.
As always if you have a suggestion or a thought I would love to hear it!
I am just two days away from being in my first craft fair at Lynnwood Elementary School on Saturday November 16th, 2013. Details for this event are here. It occured to me, and I wish I would have thought about this sooner, to see what is some of your craft fair follies and sucesses?
Even if you see this post after the 16th I would still love to hear from you since I do plan to keep doing these!
On Friday me and three good friends when to Creating Keepsakes Scrapbooking Convention. Even though I don’t scrapbook, card-making uses the same stuff as scrap booker’s mostly. I good a lot of good stuff and was uber impressed by what I got in the reusable shopping bag I bought for $15.00 at the start.
- Stampin’ Up! My Digital Studio V1.01
- 4.5 x 6.5 The Luxury Stack: Pearlized and Metallic 60 sheet stack of cardstock
- Clear 12 x 12 scrap book page keeper or you can use this to store clear stamps etc.
- 7 sheets of variety stickers (not a real fan of stickers but I will find a use)
- 12 – 12 x 12 sheets of Le Cirque Collection made by graphic 45 unique papercrafting
- Bling from Candy Shoppe
- Clear stamp from Snag’ em Stamps
I am most excited about the Stampin’ Up! My Digital Studio just for card layout alone! I have played with it a little bit and was able to come up with 3 card layouts in less than 5 minutes that looked nice (normally this processes involves me making some cards I don’t like). Now I can create a digital mock up and decide to make or not with no lost materials, yay! I will use the cardstock and the designer paper from graphic 45 these are both pretty nice. I got my monies worth if it only had the My Digital Studio as that is a $39.00 value or about that.
By the end of the show I ended up with 2 clear packs of Christmas Stamps, 2 layered die (framelit/thinlit style) of Christmas trees, Flower Layers by Sizzix die cut, Egg shapped nested die cut (framelit/thinlit style), awesome microfine glitter, 3 different types of glue and some tape from Sparkle N Sprinkle.
Sparkle N Sprinkle’s booth was where we spent the majority of our time as Demo Donna captivated us with her demo’s of the microfine glitter. We were seriously engrossed and to boot she was hilarious! By far the best booth! Most of the other women were nice but she connected with us and I spent the most money … in fact I think we all did!
I am so excited to be in my first ever craft fair. Sure I have gone to a few but have never been a vendor. I am lucky to have some good friends who also make cards so we are going to share a booth. I think this will be a wonderful opportunity to network a bit and get my name out in my own community. I have been making Christmas related items with all my free time (sorry to my wonderful husband)! Luckily he is a good sport and is very supportive of my efforts. All the information is on Vandicrafts Facebook as an event which is public so anyone can join! There will be a lot of wonderful booths to see and I will of course be posting pictures from this. I have learned so much in the past year. Not just about Etsy or how online selling works but also about myself. I am actually amazed how much time I really do put into Vandicrafts. I seem to have this endless supply of energy to make beads and cards, set up treasuries, read forums, blog and read other blogs. It comes down to one simple factor, I simply love what I do! It’s not a “job” or a “chore”, it’s a pleasure to do all this.
My goal has been since I started Vandicrafts to one day make this my full-time source of income and I strive for that goal every day. The last few months have been picking up nicely with October being my best-selling month to date! My goals for remainder of 2013 and 2014 are to advertise more! A great product can’t be discovered if its hiding from the world.
A heartfelt ‘Thank You’ to all my current and future customers as I know you have a choice and I am over joyed you chose me! ~ Melissa Vandridge
I am so excited about my new Pandora Bead Roller that I got from Etsy shop Mason Meals & More. These have a 5mm hole and a metal core which give it a finished look. These can be set with any kind of glaze also I recently watched a You Tube video here that used heat embossing powder which made the bead look like it was a glass bead. Here is a picture of the bead roller:
